  • During this morning meeting to hear from our fabulous Moffett Teachers: 3rd Grade:  Mrs. Day, Mrs. Gutierrez, and Mrs. Thompson.
  • You will also hear from Mr. A and the PTA President. 
  • We also have a wonderful Guest Speaker, Picky Pam, who will talk about Lice Prevention.
  • This is a great opportunity to learn what is going on at Moffett and our school district!!!

Moffett PTA Family Science Night

with Mad Science

 

 Calling all junior scientists!  Come and join us for an evening of family fun featuring Mad Science. Join us for a science show, “Up, Up and Away”. 
Grades K-5 can participate in a hands-on workshop.

 

When:     Thursday, March 20, 2014

Time:       5:00 – 5:30pm Dinner and 5:30-7:30 pm Mad Science 
                experience.

Where:    Sowers Cafeteria/Mall Area – back parking lot

Cost:        FREE – 50 minute Science show

                               and a choice of 3, small group,  hands-on workshops for K-5-
                               students.
                Pre-Ordered Jersey Mike’s Sandwich Dinners $3
                  (serving from 4:45-5:15pm – must pay with pre-order, along with workshop selections)

 

Please have your parents fill out the reservation form below. Return the form to your teacher or drop off in the front office in an envelope marked “Science Night”. One form per family, please.  Hurry! Don’t miss out!

Dinners must be pre-ordered and sent in with a check payable to Moffett PTA.

Scratch Computer Programming for 4th & 5th Graders After School Program

We are excited to offer a new opportunity for 4th and 5th grade students!

       

 Scratch Computer Programming

                  Learn to Code, Code to Learn

 

This after-school S.T.E.M program provides an introduction to creative computing with MIT’s Scratch programming tool, using a design-based learning approach.

 

Creative computing supports the development of personal connections to computing by drawing upon creativity, imagination, and interests.

 

Creative computing supports young people’s development as computational thinkers – individuals who can draw on computational concepts, practices, and perspectives in all aspects of their lives across disciplines and contexts.

 

Teacher Info:

Greg Beutler, a 26 year veteran of Silicon Valley as a Systems Engineer, is enthusiastic about kids and learning. His daughter Piper is currently a student in Mrs. Carlton’s 5th grade.

 

Dates: Mondays (March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, April 7, 21, May 5, 12, 19)

Time: 2:30- 3:30

Location: Moffett computer lab

Price: $99/child

Pre-requisites: this program is geared to computer-inclined 4th and 5th graders

On Monday, February 24, Greg will be holding a Preview Day for all interested 4th and 5th grade students from 2:30-3:30 in the computer lab.
