Piet Mondrian 3-5 Parent Lesson
Dutch artist Piet Mondrian created over 100 abstract compositions balancing the elements of art: line, geometric, shape, color, and space. His works were infused with a sense of movement and rhythm like the jazz music that inspired him. Students will learn how to divide colors into warm and cool families and use sandpaper and crayons to create their own colorful, dotted masterpieces.

Students will use paper templates to create their own industrial landscapes with the same precise techniques Sheeler used. To enhance the art activity, special plastic crayons will be used for a new media experience.
